If you haven’t yet been on a Segway, we whole heartily recommend that you do. It is probably the most fun you can have on two wheels; they represent a unique mode of transport. It is almost as if you are gliding!
On arrival at your Segway operator you are fitted with a helmet, and an experienced instructor takes you through some basic training steps, such as how to get on and off the Segway safely, how to turn, how to move forwards and importantly how to stop. Once your training is done, you are good to go!
It is challenging to get your head around the fact that you need to lean forwards when you are thinking no that’s not right. It can take a little while to master the Segway but once you master it, there is no stopping you. You don’t have to worry if you don’t have very good balance, Segway are self-balancing machines.
The instructors are extremely competent, putting you at ease and offering encouragement throughout your experience.
Tours generally last around 2 hours (including safety briefing) and involve driving on different terrains. Courses usually involve a number of routes and challenges along the way. You will get to go on and off road. To finish up there is usually some fun and games involving races against the rest of your group; who will be the ultimate Segway champion!
It is such a fun and thrilling experience the time flies by.
The Segway operators are often found in stunning locations. Most Segway operators are open throughout the year and offer individual or group sessions.
Prices vary depending on the duration of your session.
It is best to wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear, not flip flops, sandals or heels. Warm gloves are a good idea in colder weather. Also, best to avoid long or loose clothing.
Don’t worry about the weather, just dress appropriately for it. The rain has been said to add to the overall experience.
Check out these Segway operators. It is a popular activity and gets booked up quickly, especially at weekends and in peak periods, so make sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
